The terminology of The 'Ru Lexicon

Baraggal - Akim, the Holiest of the Holy, the highest ranking Sanga and father of the 'Ru race.

Beast - The demon that resides within all 'Ru as part of the Curse of Ereshkigal.

Bloodrage - Complete loss of control brought on by severe wounds or blood loss, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, or emotional trauma.

Breach - A violation of the Code of Inanna.

Code of Inanna - The rules by which all 'Ru must adhere. Among them are edicts against unsanctioned killing, revealing their existence to any non-candidate human, and sharing their blood with non-'Ru races.

Enforcer - The highest ranking of the Redum. They hunt and kill demons and, short of unsanctioned execution, have full authority to act for the Sangas to enforce the Code of Inanna.

Etutu - The Darkness, the ancient Sumerian version of Judgement Day.

Gallu - A demon that can shapeshift into the form of any human they touch. They cast no shadow and like all Uttuki, leave a scent of sulfur.

Hunter - A Redum that hunts down demons and tracks those who break the Code of Inanna.

Nabu - An ancient race of wizards. They can live for thousands of years, aging at approximately 1:100 year rate. Their eyes bleach to ice blue when they come into their power.

Rabishu - A incorporeal Uttuki that must possess a living, preferably soulless body to interact with the physical world.

Redum - A soldier of Inanna. Ranks include Scouts, Hunters, and Enforcers.

Revenant - A soulless being formed by feeding ‘Ru blood to a dying human. When killed, a revenant turns to dust.

'Ru - Short for Ina EzeRu, the Cursed Ones. While they are the immortal guardians of mankind, they must endure the Curse of Ereshkigal and live solely on human blood.

Sanga - A High Priest of Inanna, married to the Goddess at the time of his Tribulation.

Scout - A Redum spy or messenger. They also scout for and recruit new potential 'Ru candidates.

Sebitti - The most powerful of the Uttuki, they can transmute from mist to physical form and can steal a human’s soul with a single look.

Server - A lower-ranking 'Ru who has served the clan in a human capacity and can offer a valuable skill or service to the clan.

Soulpinner - The silver dagger used by the Nabu during the Tribulation ritual to pin the soul in the candidate’s body until the ritual is complete.

Tribulation - The blood rites during which a human candidate pledges his/her eternal soul to Inanna and accepts the Curse of Ereshkigal.

Usemi - The Change, the physical transformation from human to 'Ru.

Uttuki - The top tier of Underworld demons. They are commanded by Nergal, King of the Underworld, and are characterized by the unmistable scent of sulfur.
